youth & high school team programs

City Rocks HOPE currently offers teams for 4th-8th grade boys. We have both local and travel teams. Our

travel teams participate in the Marquee Hoops Circuit. We also have teams that participate in MADE Winter

Circuit.

City Rocks HOPE has two seasons, Fall/Winter & Spring Summer. Our Fall/Winter season begins the first week of October and runs through the final week of March and we participate in the MADE Circuit. Our Spring/Summer season begins mid to late March and runs through June or July depending on your teams schedule. Travel teams play the Marquee Circuit.

Tryouts for the Fall/Winter season are typically held in September and tryouts for the Spring/Summer season are typically held in February. Some levels have local teams that do not travel outside of the area. Not everyone who tries out will make a team. Other Tryout Dates may be added. Players can expect to attend two or three 90-120 minute practices, typically held between 6:00-9:30pm, Monday through Thursday evenings. For practices, we rent gyms within Monroe County. All local tournaments are held in Upstate NY while our travel teams will travel to Manheim PA, York PA, Baltimore MD, Harrisburg PA and other potential locations outside of NYS. Our teams will play between 2-5 games on a tournament weekend.

Player fees for 2024 Spring are $600. Player fees cover all gym costs, tournament entry fees, team insurance,

coach & administration fees. Parents are responsible for purchasing a separate one-time $150 Nike uniform fee that includes a jersey, shorts & shooting shirt. Players are required to buy a new uniform every Spring season.

Playing time on our travel teams is not even. Playing time is entirely dependent on practices attended, work ethic, effort and attitude. Please note that different  games present different opportunities. We ask parents do not contact coaches about playing time until after 24 hours. City Rocks HOPE recognizes and supports the fact that many of our athletes compete in other activities.

However, other individuals will have been turned away in light of offering your son a roster spot. The quality of the experience for everyone is diminished if we have participants routinely miss Practices/games without any communication. If your son is unavailable, we expect timely communication so the team can plan accordingly.

City Rocks HOPE Basketball has nearly 15 years of experience preparing young men to play at the collegiate level. Since 2008, our program has had over 50+ college basketball players, including 10+ at the NCAA Division I level, and multiple professionals.

City Rocks will operate an EYBL Team & an Elite Team at 16u & 17u age groups and an Elite team at 15u. The EYBL Teams will participate in the EYBL Champions League and other various tournaments. The Elite Teams will play on the Marquee Hoops Circuit.

As mentioned above, our program has produced over 50+ college basketball players. City Rocks provides players on our teams with a highly organized, dependable experience that incorporates high level coaching and exposure on the top AAU circuits in the country. We have had many of our team alumni go on to prep school, college or play professionally. Check out our alumni! 

At the parent meeting, we will discuss recruiting, prep school and how City Rocks HOPE helps its players and families understand the recruiting process and what you need to be prepared to do.

Our teams are NOT funded through Nike and we rely on outside donors/sponsorships to help keep the costs reasonable.

The ACTUAL cost for an EYBL player is roughly $3,500 per student athlete.

The player fee is approximately $1,300 and the 15u, 16u & 17u Elite player fee is $800. ***Pricing is subject to change.

We try our best to keep the cost for our players reasonable with sponsorships and donations.

EYBL fees cover: tournament entry fees, coaching/administration, gym costs, gear package (shoes, bag, etc.), lodging (hotels for EYBL Trips only) and team insurance. The uniform for the season comes back to CR HOPE and parents are responsible for players travel to events.

The Elite fee covers: tournament entry fees, coaching/administration, gym costs, uniform/shooting shirt and team insurance. The 15u,16u and 17u Elite team fee does not include travel -- parents are responsible for travel & lodging for players during out of town events.

Players on our High School teams should plan to either practice or play in tournaments each weekend following tryouts through the end of May, and each weekend in July (High School players play with their High School teams during June).

Practices will be based in Rochester, NY and some teams will practice during the week. Full schedules will be provided prior to the start of the season.

EYBL in Albany March 2-3 and EYBL Champions & Elite Team March 9-10 in Rochester. Players are encouraged to attend both tryouts. Other Tryout Dates may be added. Follow us @rochestercityrocks on IG for updates or here on the website.
